Directory Servers

If you administer a large domain with thousands of mail users, you may want to dedicate one or more directory servers. A directory server is dedicated to the provision of directory services such as doing directory lookups. Normally, a user's mail service provides these services. If you can off-load lookup services to a different server, the mail server is free to concentrate on providing mail services. It should therefore be able to accommodate more mail users.
