SSL Security in Domino and Notes

Domino servers employ SSL in several possible situations:

  • A public Domino Web server on which you run an e-commerce application must be able to prove its authenticity to total strangers wanting to buy your products on the Web site. This server needs a certificate issued by a commercial CA. The server typically doesn't need to authenticate the buyer. (It only needs to get the buyer's money.)

  • Another Domino server may permit your customers, suppliers, or business partners to use a Web browser to track the status of their accounts or various ongoing transactions with you.
