Alternate Names and Languages

If your organization has an International presence, you should enable the alternate names and languages feature. This allows you to assign two names to each user—a primary, internationally recognized name and a secondary name in the user's native language and character set. Notes can then display Notes documents and name lists to that user in either language.

This solves all sorts of problems. For example, in China, people's surnames come first and their given names last—just the opposite of European names.
