Presenting a Trainer in the Right Light

If you choose to bring in an outside trainer to help train your Indian staff, be sure to establish her credibility and standing from the very beginning. Indians are more willing to study a subject and won’t challenge a trainer’s authority if you clearly explain why she’s well qualified to conduct training sessions.

Toot your trainer’s horn by listing her degrees, work experience, travels, and professional accomplishments to ensure that your employees are all ears when she begins imparting wisdom. As an old Indian saying goes, “Acharya devo bhava,” which means “Treat the teacher as God.” Make sure your employees know that your trainer is fit to take on such a lofty role.
