Where to Go from Here

The great thing about this book is that it has been written with you in mind, as you stand on the cusp of a new business venture in an extraordinary foreign country. But I don’t know what you already know or which areas you’re particularly interested in, so I leave it to you to decide where to start and what to read first. The beauty of a functional reference book like this is that you can jump in, gain useful knowledge, and jump back out. Just head to the Table of Contents or the Index to find a good place to jump in with a topic that interests you, and go for it!

If you’re not sure where you want to go, feel free to start at Part I. That part starts at the beginning. That section gives you all the basic info you need to understand the business climate in India and points to places where you can find more detailed information.

Want to know about retail or manufacturing, for example? Head to Chapters 11 and 12. If you’re interested in how to build relationships with Indian associates, go to Chapter 14. If you want to understand a bit more about managing an India team and human resources topics, flip to Chapter 7 or 17, which discusses many aspects of handling this most valuable resource of people that make up your business. Chapter 15 on etiquette helps you deal with Indians and culture, too.
