About This Book

No book on doing business in India can tell you everything you need to know about the topic (unless it’s so massive that you need an Indian elephant to haul it). In this book, I don’t even try to be exhaustive. Instead, I offer a guide to the basics, including a bevy of useful information that you can really use as you make your Indian business plans. Are you wondering what works in India? How can you start up an operation there? How do you decide on a good location for your business? What do you need to know to manage an Indian team? Well, never fear; I tackle these questions and many more.

Each chapter is divided into sections, and each section contains information about some part of conducting business in India. Highlights include the following:

How to create an effective business plan for your Indian venture
What to consider when choosing an appropriate entity for your Indian business
How to train your Indian team
Where to find invaluable resources for setting up and growing your business
What to expect as far as the broad rules and regulations that govern business in India
How to communicate with your Indian colleagues, partners, and employees

This book distills the knowledge gained by many foreigners who have done business in India and also describes the tactics used by Indian residents who’ve succeeded in the thriving Indian economy. This combination of experiences is invaluable, and I hope it makes the prospect of doing business in India more manageable ...
