Truck Bed Covers

The bed and tailgate of a pickup truck can create a significant amount of drag. Some people who drag race pickups report that they can pick up noticeable gains by running with the tailgate down, but many newer pickups have less drag with the tailgate up. In either case, removing the tailgate and replacing it with a net is likely to create more drag, as flapping netting will create a lot of turbulence. Nearly all trucks become more aerodynamic if the hole in the bed is covered, however. A rigid fiberglass cover may perform slightly better than a fabric cover, but both will cut down on the drag. Many of these fiberglass covers also feature locks to allow you to keep your cargo safe.
