However, simply grabbing the nearest one off the shelf at Wal-Mart can create more problems than it solves.

The first consideration when choosing a fire extinguisher is to make sure it can actually put out all of the sorts of fires that may happen in a car. Fire extinguishers are rated with an ABCD system.
