Cooling the Brakes

There’s another way to deal with brake fade besides making the brakes absorb heat: carry the heat away by bringing fresh air to your brakes. A minimal approach is to use scoops under the front bumper that send air in the general direction of the brakes. For even more cooling, you can run a flex hose from an opening in the front or side of the car to the brakes. This hose should deliver its air directly to the caliper, which is likely to be the hottest point of the brake system.

Brake cooling is one area where you don’t need to compromise. Short of dangerous or insane ideas involving CO2 or liquids, it’s hard to overcool your brakes.
