There are a few other basics that everyone who wants to work on cars should have. One is a suitable set of gloves. Ordinary yard work gloves are not the best choice here. Gloves designed for working on cars are tight-fitting, but offer enough protection to avoid getting any nasty cuts if your wrench suddenly slips off while trying to turn a bolt. Most of these gloves are washable, too. Another product you will want for your hands is a jar of degreaser. Ordinary soap often does a poor job of removing the sort of grease you are likely to get on your hands while working on cars, even if you are wearing gloves.
