Apple founder Steve Jobs has shared that when he was 17 he read a quote that made him think:

If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.

In a Stanford University commencement speech, he told the audience, “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.” Jobs shared that his near-death scare with cancer a few years earlier had brought that idea back into focus.
