FAST-TRACK TIP NO. 6: COLOR-CODE YOUR PRIORITY PROJECTS

As you determine what you do best, put that on the calendar. Color-code your priority projects. The only way to make sure those things get done is to put them on your schedule.

My calendar has a reminder twice a week to write my blog. That entry is color-coded red, as a task. In the beginning, that was an important tickler. Every time I saw the “code red,” it got my attention. Eventually, writing the blog became a habit. I remembered to do it without looking at the calendar. I enjoyed it and made it a part of my morning routine.

That of course means you need to put priority activities first, not last, after you’ve filled up your schedule with meetings, phone calls, and events.
