BECOMING A CONFIDENT SPEAKER

How do you become a more powerful, confident speaker? Katherin Nukk-Freeman, who was introduced in Chapter 4, loves speaking today, but it wasn’t always that way. Born in Chicago, Nukk-Freeman describes herself as a shy kid. Her father was a chemical engineer, and because her family moved all over the country, she loved to read and write but didn’t speak up much in class. As she relates: “Teachers would tell my parents that ‘we know she has the answer, but she doesn’t raise her hand.’”
