The information technology (IT) industry has an embarrassing reputation from the perspective of our customers. For decades we have squandered scarce budgets and resources, reneged on our promises, and delivered functionality that is not actually needed by the client. An outsider looking at our profession must be truly baffled. We have so many process frameworks and various bodies of knowledge such that we ourselves have difficulty keeping up with just the acronyms, let alone the wealth of material behind them.
