Documentaries are largely created through intelligent editing, an alchemy that works magic and miracles. Few understand this until they take its long, exploratory journey for themselves.

Editing techniques are hard to grasp from a book, but you can see their results from films you admire. Work out for yourself how editing suggests eyes, ears, and the warmth of human intelligence working together, all guiding your attention toward hidden meanings.
