Understanding Your Second Shooter’s Skill Level

Knowing your second shooter’s skill level is important so that you can give him tasks accordingly. For example, if you know that your second shooter has never photographed a wedding before and just wants some exposure to the whole process, you may just want to have him stick by your side and help with fluffing the wedding dress, holding bouquets, and taking candid shots. However, if you know that your second shooter is experienced and has worked several weddings, you can probably divvy up certain tasks, like sending him to do the portraits of the groom getting ready while you photograph the bride and bridesmaids.
