Defining the Look and Feel of Your Company

Part of getting your name out there and being heard as a small business is finding an identity that sets you apart from other similar businesses. Start figuring out how you want your business to come across, or how you want to be known and recognized. For example, do you want to be known as a high-end wedding photographer? Or do you want to be known as the wedding photographer with the best prices in town? Are you known for your vintage processing? Or are you known for your classic colors and stunning black-and-white images?

After you narrow down what characteristics you want to represent your brand, you need to choose an appropriate name for the business. Though most photographers use their own name, feel free to be creative and choose something unique. However, keep in mind that your business name should be simple and easy to spell. It should also tell people what it is that you do (such as incorporating the word photography into the name).

Defining the look and feel of your wedding photography company also comes into play in your online presence and in your marketing materials. As you think about the look you want for your company’s logo, website, and business cards, consider how they can reflect your personal characteristics and those of your business.
