Making a To-Do List and Checking It Twice

I love to-do lists. I find them incredibly useful when I’m trying to organize my thoughts and when making sure that I don’t forget important details. When you photograph a wedding, you have a lot of those important details (and your reputation) at stake! To avoid any of those prewedding anxiety dreams from becoming a reality, I highly recommend putting together your own list so you can make sure you have everything in order. In the following sections, I give you an example of my own to-do list of things I want to accomplish before the wedding even begins.

All clear! Cleaning your lenses properly

Keeping your camera lenses clean and free of dust is important for getting sharp pictures. After all, you spent all that dough on that tack-sharp lens, so you don’t want to muddy up your shots with smudges or grime.

Before you clean your lenses, make sure you have the proper tools with you: an air blower (never use compressed air, it’s too rough on your lenses), a microfiber cloth or lens tissue, a camel-hair brush, and an alcohol-based lens cleaning solution. Most lens-cleaning kits come with all of these supplies and are inexpensive and easy to find at any camera store.

To clean your lenses, follow these steps:

1. Remove the lens cap from the front of your lens.

2. Use an air blower to blow away as much dust as you can.
