You may not need a master’s degree in photography or a boatload of experience to start a career in the wedding business, but a few things are absolute musts. In this chapter, I give an overview of the types of equipment you need to acquire, from the camera body and lenses down to memory cards and lighting gear. If you’re a beginner in the field of photography (or if you just want to brush up on a few fundamental techniques), I also cover the basics of exposure and give you a breakdown of the camera settings you need to be familiar with. I also suggest ways you can practice before a wedding. (For full details on lighting and composition techniques, flip to Chapter 3.)
