11. Testing Digital Systems

In the course of manufacture, defects may be introduced into electronic systems. Systems may also break during use. Defects may not be easy to detect. In this chapter we discuss the importance of testing, the types of defects that can occur, and how defects can be detected. We describe procedures for generating tests and how the effectiveness of tests can be assessed.
