Not too long ago, an editing suite actually required a suite. Iâm talking about a room filled with so much electronic equipment that the electric company would smile each time someone turned it on, and where the wires would hum the theme from Star Trek while you were engaged deep in thought.
Inside this high-tech ratâs nest were numerous video cassette decks attached to a bank of monitors. Between them was a controlling console with knobs and illuminated buttons resembling the helm of the ship in Lost in Space. Speakers, scopes, and piles of videotape adorned the area. And cables . . . lots and lots of cables!
