The so-called symbiotic relationship between audio and video quality remains nothing more than a concept unless you take the proper steps with each and — for this chapter’s purpose — those steps focus on capturing audio. Of course, that covers a pretty wide swath.

Sometimes it’s as simple as being cognizant of ambient noise on the scene, or perhaps, using a specific microphone technique. Other times, it’s about plugging a cable between the camera and a soundboard at an event to reproduce the most clear audio signal in your movie. Whatever reason, a perfect sound recording puts the cherry on the cake.
