Many of the terms in the following glossary were used in the book’s chapters, but other relevant terms are also included because they are important to know if you are going to work in computer graphics. Although the glossary contains more than 220 terms, it is only a starting point from which you learn more about computer graphics.

2D Acronym for two dimensional. In computer graphics, a two-dimensional object such as a bitmap image has height and width but no physical depth.

3D Acronym for three dimensional. In computer graphics, a three-dimensional object such as a 3D model with x, y, and z coordinates has height, width,and depth that determine its physical properties and location.
