About This Book

Even if your digital camera comes with a readable manual (highly unlikely), it doesn’t really explain anything more than how to push the buttons. There’s a lot more to digital photography than that. Your camera’s manual won’t help you cut through all the technical jargon and it won’t teach you how to take better pictures. And once you have those works of art in your camera, you’ll want to move them onto your PC, edit them, print them, and share them with your pals. Don’t look to your camera docs for help there.

This book, then, is the manual that should have come with your camera. In these pages, you’ll find real world help that covers the whole spectrum of digital photography. You’ll find step-by-step instructions that show you how to organize, edit, print, and email your photos.

If you’re an experienced film photographer making the move to digital you’ll find helpful translations of terms you’d never hear in a darkroom. If you’re a photo novice, special sidebar articles called “Up to Speed” provide the introductory information you need to understand the topic at hand. Whether you take pictures with a Nikon digital SLR or a Nokia phone camera, you’ll find new ways to work with your photos and share them with friends and family.
