Choosing an Online Photo Service

EasyShare Gallery, Flickr, Shutterfly, and Snapfish are the four most popular online photo sites. This chapter covers all four in detail. Each lets you upload photos by creating a free user account. To help you get your pictures online and manage your photo library, the companies provide tools, which may be standalone programs or plug-in tools that work as appendages to your Web browser. But all these services aren’t created equal. There’s plenty of variation in the features they offer for arranging, sorting, editing, sharing, and so on. Before choosing one, read this section to get an idea of the pros and cons of each service. Then hit the Web and take a couple for a test drive.

  • EasyShare, Section 6.3 (http://www.kodakgallery.com ). As discussed in Chapter 5, Kodak EasyShare is a standalone program that runs on your computer; with it, you can organize, touch up, email, and print your photos. Kodak EasyShare Gallery is a companion Web site that lets you share some or all of these pictures online. You can also mail regular rolls of film to Kodak for developing and then have them added as digital photos to your Gallery.
