Regardless of subject matter or style, it’s often a good idea to separate elements of your artwork into layers. For example, draw outlines on one layer and create color on another. You’ll be able to make changes to one layer while other layers are protected. You can even shuffle layers around to experiment with alternate compositions and effects.
