Two-Dimensional Signals, Systems, and Discrete Fourier Transform

Mathematical preliminaries are unavoidable in any system theory discipline, especially image processing. However, this chapter introduces some basic ideas concerning two-dimensional (2-D) signals and systems, which are useful in the analysis and design of image processing systems, and defers detailed derivations to an appendix. If you are familiar with 2-D signals and systems, you may skip this chapter.
