This chapter reviews the varied classes and properties of specialty supplements. Specialty supplements are dietary supplement ingredients that do not neatly fit into other supplement categories. In this chapter, we review omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, probiotics, glucosamine, and chondroitin, and coenzyme Q10. The background, properties, and clinical trials involving each ingredient are discussed. The safety of each are also reviewed.
