Summary
In this chapter, we learned about some new features in Jenkins 2, why Jenkins is so popular, and how to install it. We discussed the improvements with respect to security and plugin installations during setup and how to configure Java and Maven. We took a look at what happens in the background when we create a new job in Jenkins, how to authenticate with Git, and how to configure Git in Jenkins. We then performed a unit test execution in a sample Spring application and configured the Dashboard View plugin with different portlets for customized views.
