Abstract:

Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) is considered one of the most promising strategies to reduce CO2 emissions while enabling the continued use of fossil fuels and without compromising the security of electricity supply. This chapter first states the global CO2 emissions from power generation and points out that climate change is a serious and urgent issue. The chapter then discusses carbon management options and puts CCS technology into perspective.
