Overview of carbon dioxide (CO₂) capture and storage technology

Abstract:

Carbon dioxide (CO₂) capture and storage (CCS) is considered one of the most promising strategies to reduce CO₂ emissions while enabling the continued use of fossil fuels and without compromising the security of electricity supply. This chapter first states the global CO₂ emissions from power generation and points out that climate change is a serious and urgent issue. The chapter then discusses carbon management options and puts CCS technology into perspective.
