Summary

In this chapter we examined the Microsoft AJAX Library’s Behavior and Control implementations and event-based programming of DOM elements. You learned how to create controls that aren’t bound to implementation details and can be used in multiple contexts. We also looked at complex application controls with Web service integration.

Building on this foundation, we’ll look at additional control techniques in the following chapters, including data rendering with XSLT, navigation, and page history with Back button support. Finally, in the last chapter of the book, we’ll look at deploying service-oriented AJAX components into Microsoft’s enterprise portal, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
