C2 Security
The National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Computer Security Center (NCSC) use a number of different standards to determine and evaluate the level of security that tested hardware and software products provide. These standards are collectively known as the Rainbow series, named after the colors of the cover of each of the publications. These standards are commonly referred to as the Orange Book standards. The Orange Book classifications were designed to provide a standard to determine the level of security in products that hardware and software manufactures were supplying to the Department of Defense.
