Joining Systems Together

Designing workflows is always going to involve connections between different operating systems, even if it only takes place at the boundaries of your domain.

If we can reduce the differences between the systems somehow and choose technologies that are common and supported across the target platforms, we will reduce our workload.

The world has become a somewhat simpler place for workflow engineers and software developers since Apple introduced the UNIX-based Mac OS X operating system. We now have to contend with only two systems architectures when we build applications: The UNIX world and the Windows world.
