This appendix lists some useful file formats for exchanging content between applications.

Choosing the optimum file format for storing your content is critical. If you choose a format that applies too much compression and loses some of the information, it is gone forever. If you store this in your archives, you cannot recover that lost quality if you need to deliver to new platforms later on.

Video compression codecs are categorized as production and delivery codecs. Production codecs are lossless or so nearly lossless that the artefacts are invisible.
