3.1. IMPLICATIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS

The leadership implications of strategic shifts are different for different parts of the organization and for individuals. With regard to the organization, a change in strategy may mean that certain functions will have to take the lead, while others must step back and collaborate more.

With regard to the individual, your organization's leaders may need to respond to the business challenges with new or significantly different behaviors, as did Apple, IBM, and Abrasive Technology. Or they may have to place greater emphasis on current behaviors. Table 3.1 is a summary of some contemporary organizational challenges and their potential implications.
