4.1. A LEADERSHIP COMPETENCY MODEL

Without a competency model, it can be difficult to provide organizational consistency in reinforcing specific leadership behavior. It also can be difficult to establish alignment of individual leadership behavior with organizational strategy.

Your organization may already have a competency model in place. Even so, it's useful to periodically reexamine that model in light of emerging challenges. Your organization may want or need to shift the emphasis from some competencies to others.
