4. Creating Your First Component

The previous chapters gave you a slew of information about what a component is actually constructed of; the methods that it provides for creating its content and child assets; and what the process is when you want to update elements of your component.

This is the first chapter where you’re actually “doing” something. From here on, you get knee deep in code and create your first components, building up to finally “wrapping” it all up and distributing it (which is Part III, “Distribution”). However, to avoid the “don’t run before you can walk” adage, you start off slowly by creating your first simple component. Then, we revise it.
