Foreword

In September of 1997, David Tucker and I (the two co-founders of Selsius Systems, Inc.) strung cable from the kitchen to the living room of Voice On the Net (VON) pioneer Jeff Pulver. At the end of two of the cables we connected two of the first production units of the Selsius-Phone, the world's first production-ready Ethernet phones that utilized the Internet Protocol (IP). Jeff had graciously allowed us twenty minutes to demonstrate this “crazy but interesting” technology before his wife returned home and ran us out of his house. We connected a third cable to our laptop, which was running the Selsius-CallManager software.
