Chapter 3. Phone Services Primer

This chapter provides information about the various aspects of the Cisco IP Phone and some of the basic elements of developing a phone service. In some cases, more detailed information is provided in another chapter later in the book.

To develop phone services, you need access to Cisco CallManager. To provide this capability, if you do not already have access, we have included CM-Sim, a CallManager Simulator, on the CD-ROM included with this book. See Chapter 12, “Cisco CallManager Simulator,” for more information about CM-Sim. You also need Cisco IP Phone models 7960 or 7940 to test your service on.
