Part VII. Moving On

Saying goodbye is always sad in real life, but not so much when you’re dealing with a Web application. It’s all too easy to click that magic Log Out link (or Logout if you’re at one of those sites I talked about in Chapter 3) and be on our way. And it’s all too easy to simply never return.

The fact is, most people don’t use Web applications for the sheer joy of it. They do so to get something done and get on with their lives. In other words, the primary goal for most people is to get away from a Web site. In fact, every chapter so far has been about how to enable people to get things done quickly, effectively, and with confidence, so that they can get away from the site. And the longer it takes, the less satisfied they can become. ...
