Part VI. Managing Information

Almost every day, I burn up about two or three hours dealing with email, catching up on the news, reading blog posts, and checking out all the interesting links I learn about from those blog posts. That’s two or three hours on a good day.

Clearly, I’m trying to manage too much information at once, but we’ll save that conversation for another time. (And no, I don’t count this as “professional development” time when billing clients.)

My point is that there is a huge amount of information online, and managing it can become a full-time job if we let it. The moments we spend navigating this data every day are aimed at achieving one major goal: to get organized, so we feel like we’re active participants in our lives instead ...
