Chapter 10. Storage Design Validation

You should include a proof-of-concept phase in your project schedule. This testing phase allows you to verify whether the theoretical assumptions were valid and the proposed solution architecture will meet your own or your customer's requirements. It is very important to take this phase seriously and not skip it because of time restrictions. Making architectural changes after the Exchange environment is already in production is more time consuming and expensive, and often requires a disruption of the messaging service. It is better to find your mistakes and know the performance of your environment before users complain about your inability to design an environment that fulfills their needs.
