Chapter 3. Storage Technologies

In this chapter, we are going to review the major storage technologies available in 2008. Of course, this section has a somewhat limited lifetime because of rapid evolution. However, some fundamentals remain the same, and we often use certain principles that were well established 10 years ago. Naturally, technology has improved, and will continue to improve in several dimensions: capacity, performance, and cost.
