15.2. Avoiding the SOC Disaster Scenarios

Progress in IC development will be seriously curtailed if any of the disaster scenarios discussed in the previous section come to pass. Consequently, much current research is being devoted to creating new design techniques and manufacturing processes that will forestall these scenarios. To varying extents, new SOC-design techniques, such as the ones advocated in this book, can help to avoid all of these disaster scenarios.
