Summary
In this chapter we described a case study to provide a solution for a highly available file service. The business case drove the requirements of high availability and low cost. The solution selected included an NFS service provided by a Sun Enterprise 220R server and Sun Enterprise D1000 array, similar to the SunTone Cluster Platform 220/1000.
The software environment of the HA-NFS data service was described in detail. The manner of recovering NFS file locks that provide client level synchronization was described in detail.
