Summary

In this chapter we described a collection of infrastructure services that a management server such as those used in the SunTone Cluster Platforms can provide. A management server provides a single point of management for the cluster or a group of clusters for:

  • Installation and recovery

  • Logging, alerts, and configuration records

  • Systems management, such as the Sun Management Center server

  • Convenient online documentation

A management server example was described, including the recovery process of the management server itself. You are encouraged to implement a systems management architecture such as this in your Sun Cluster system designs.
