EXTERNAL DATA

Some data warehouses may already have access to external data. By this we do not mean external data that is imported into the warehouse during the extraction, transformation, and load process. What we mean is that there are links to external data that our users can, seamlessly, reach out to. Over time, this will become more and more popular until the point is reached where access to external data becomes a fundamental requirement.

There are some industries, especially pharmaceuticals, where there are hundreds of research and epidemiological databases that companies can subscribe to.
