Reviewing Headlines and Subheads

Headlines and subheads attract and maintain your reader’s interest. Your message will suffer when the following problems occur.

Problem 3: Hard-to-Locate Headlines and Subheads

Headlines and subheads must be easy to locate and must obviously have more importance than the adjacent text. Headlines and subheads must form a strong contrast with other text on the page. Consider the following suggestions:

Use a contrasting typeface for subheads. Combine serif body copy with sans serif subheads.

Use significantly different type sizes for headlines and subheads. Choose types sizes that form a strong contrast with body copy.
