What Can Design Do for You?

Design is the purposeful—rather than random—formatting and arrangement of the text and graphical elements that make up a page (or a publication). Design is based on making appropriate decisions about the layout and formatting of your message. Layout refers to the arrangement of parts—of text and graphical elements. Formatting refers to their colors, typeface choices, and spacing.

How Do You Measure Design Success?

Design should never be subjectively measured. The success or failure of a design should never be measured in terms of subjective impressions based on color, typeface, and layout.

Design is the purposeful arrangement and formatting of the text and graphical elements used to communicate your message.
