Four Examples of the Appropriate Use of Color

1. Restrict color to large, heavy type

Rather than adding color to body text, use it to add impact to headlines, subheads, and publication titles. Use dark colors which are easier to read.

2. Restrict light colors to fills

Use light colored background colors, plus shades of them, to organize and emphasize short text elements like pull-quotes, a table of contents, or sidebars.
